Planning & Zoning
The Department of Planning and Zoning is responsible for the processing of zoning cases, variances to the Zoning Ordinance, street and alley abandonments, subdivision plat review, and annexation requests. In the area of zoning enforcement, this department notifies property owners when a zoning violation has occurred, or violations within a planned development designation.
This Department’s mission is to amend the Zoning Ordinance so as to promote the orderly growth and expansion of the city and the continued implementation and revision of the Comprehensive Plan.
***IMPORTANT*** Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Planning & Zoning Commission will hold virtual meetings via Zoom. Persons that wish to comment on a particular agenda item can do so by one of three ways: (1) mail comments to Texas City Hall, Attn: Debbie Burk, 220 Texas Blvd, Texarkana, Texas (2) email comments to firstname.lastname@example.org, or (3) pre-register by 12pm the day of the meeting via the Zoom platform with a link that will be located on the city’s website ci.texarkana.tx.us and comment during the meeting. All mailed or emailed public comments must be received by 12pm the date of the meeting.
